Emergency Preparedness
We live on a planet that is always changing and natural disasters can happen at any time, to anyone. Even if you live in a relatively "safe" area, you're not immune to a sudden act of nature. But are you ready? Do you have an emergency plan? Do you have emergency supplies including food, water, medicine, clothing and an emergency flashlight you can count on?
Most recently, the Midwest of the United States was pounded by torrential rains, which ultimately led to severe wide spread flooding in numerous cities and towns. At near the same time, tornados badly damaged several cities including Atlanta and wildfires in California destroyed homes and forced evacuations.
Each year the residents of the gulf coast and eastern sea board have to contend with the destructive savagery of hurricanes. In California earthquakes continually ripple through the ground, fortunately most are barely noticeable but some are extremely destructive.
The citizens of Washington state must be ready to deal with volcanic eruptions as well as with the massive earthquake and tsunami that would result if the fault just off the coast were to violently slip. And each winter, blizzards and ice storms will blanket much of the United States and Canada.
The structural damage and loss of critical utilities such as water, power and gas combined with the loss of food and medical services for many days if not weeks caused by all of these extreme natural disasters is a reality that cannot be ignored and should be prepared for. Sadly, most people are not prepared and each year, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, fires, volcanic eruptions and other disasters leave millions of people worldwide without food, water, medicine, shelter and electricity.
Be prepared the next time the lights go out - own NightStar. Without needing batteries, bulbs or maintenance, NightStar is the only flashlight that can be counted on to light your way even in the most extreme conditions on the planet.
AIT proudly supports the American Red Cross – Oregon Trail Chapter through the sale of NightStar flashlights. To support the Red Cross operations or to learn more about this great organization visit www.redcross-pdx.org
